Will Oliver Queen’s past come back to haunt him during the fifth season of Arrow?

As Oliver (Stephen Amell) has become a fully-fledged hero — in public as mayor and in private as the Green Arrow — the Emerald Archer will be contemplating the empire he’s built.

“Essentially the theme that we’re dealing with this year is legacy,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim says. “The idea [is] Oliver honoring Black Canary’s [Katie Cassidy] legacy after Laurel’s death last year. As the season progresses, you’ll see that there are a lot of callbacks to season 1. What we’re doing is we’re dramatizing Oliver’s desire to grow, move forward, and evolve, but this concept of legacy keeps threatening to pull him back to the early days.”

In that vein, Oliver will be facing off against a new archer adversary named Prometheus — not the DC Comics character created by Grant Morrison, but someone who fits into the theme of legacy. So who’s under the mask? “I can really only say that Oliver bears a measure of responsibility for the creation of Prometheus,” Guggenheim teases.

So who has Oliver wronged over the last four seasons that could come back to haunt him in some shape or form? That list is probably as long as the one Robert Queen used to keep, so hit the comments with your theories.

Arrow returns Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
