Tom Hanks could be headed back to the captain’s chair. The Sully and Captain Phillips leading man has written and is looking to star in Greyhound, a drama about a career Navy man given command of a destroyer ship during World War II, EW has confirmed.

Aaron Schneider, the veteran cinematographer who made his feature directing debut on 2009’s Get Low, is on board to helm Greyhound, and Gary Goetzman will produce. Taking its name from the protagonist’s warship, the movie tells the story of a man battling both external enemies and his own demons.

Hanks is of course no stranger to historical dramas (Bridge of Spies, Saving Private Ryan) or playing captain and commander types (Sully, Captain Phillips, Apollo 13). Although best known for his work in front of the camera, he previously wrote the screenplays for Larry Browne and That Thing You Do.

Deadline first reported the news.
