How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan cast as the mom in Kim Possible movie

Casting has been announced for Kim's family, villains, and high school peers

Alyson Hannigan is finally getting to play the mother.

As Disney Channel’s live-action Kim Possible movie inches closer to reality, the How I Met Your Mother alum is the latest to join the project, following the announcement last month that Sadie Stanley and Sean Giambrone had been cast as the film’s main protagonists — high schooler-turned-secret agent Kim Possible and her best friend Ron Stoppable.

Previous generations of Possibles will be on hand to guide Kim through her adventures, as Hannigan will play mom, Dr. Ann Possible. Meanwhile, Connie Ray (The Big C) will play Kim’s grandmother, Nana Possible.

Additionally, Todd Stashwick (12 Monkeys) and Taylor Ortega will star as Kim’s greatest villains, the mad scientist Dr. Drakken and his energy-powered sidekick Shego. And of course, when Kim isn’t fighting supervillains or hanging with her family, she’s still a high school student. Ciara Wilson (OMG!) has been cast as new high school student Athena, while Erika Tham (Make It Pop) will play Kim’s childhood frenemy, Bonnie.
