House of Lies: Ben Schwartz says goodbye to Showtime comedy

Ben Schwartz thanked his House of Lies costars, crew, and fans in a heartfelt letter he posted hours before the Showtime comedy series finale airs Sunday night.

“Thank you Matthew Carnahan for conjuring this show up in your beautiful brain and showing me a showrunner can be as intelligent as he is supportive, hilarious, and kind,” Schwartz started the note. “Thank you Showtime for giving us 58 episodes to take risks and say things no other network would allow.”

Schwartz starred in House of Lies throughout its five-season run alongside Don Cheadle, who he calls “an inspiration and a perfect example of how the lead of a show should treat everyone around them,” and Kristen Bell, a.k.a. a “MOTHER F—ING BOSS.”

“Kristen is able to juggle comedy and drama to perfection all while making the world a better place,” Schwartz wrote. “She is truly capable of anything and will be one of the driving forces in making Earth a better place.”

The actor, who has also appeared on shows like Parks and Recreation and Arrested Development, ended the letter by addressing the show’s fans. “Thank you for cheering us on,” he said. “It fueled us on to do more and take bigger risks. It was an honor to create this world for you every week and I hope you enjoy the way it all wraps up.”
