Netflix is stuffing the stockings of Sense8 fans this holiday season, announcing Saturday the premiere date for season 2, as well as the two-hour event, Sense8: A Christmas Special.

Launching Dec. 23 at 3:01 a.m. ET, the special continues the journey of the show’s eight mentally-linked central characters — Capheus (Toby Onwumere), Kala (Tina Desai), Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre), Nomi (Jamie Clayton), Riley (Tuppence Middleton), Sun (Donna Bae), Will (Brian J. Smith), and Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) — who are “finding deeper connections, learning darker, more desperate secrets about one another and struggling to identify with more than just oneself,” according to a Netflix press release.

Season 2, which premieres May 5 at 3:01 a.m. ET with 10 new episodes, will pick up at the end of season 1’s events as the Sensates find themselves on the run from Whispers (Terrence Mann) after coming together physically. Questioning their identity, the eight are trying to find a way to survive and protect each other along the way.
