Fox News launching a streaming service for 'superfans'

Fox News is expanding its information dissemination empire with a new stand-alone streaming service that will not require a cable subscription.

As first reported by The New York Times, the cable news channel has announced Fox Nation, a digital stream stockpiled with "right-leaning commentary" and original programming.

Fox Nation's programming will remain distinct from Fox News (to avoid violating the latter's agreements with cable operators) but could have cameos from personalities from the main network.

In a statement to the Times, Fox News program development and production chief John Finley said, "Fox Nation is designed to appeal to the Fox superfan. These are the folks who watch Fox News every night for hours at a time, the dedicated audience that really wants more of what we have to offer … [Fox News viewers] value our product so much, they go to hotels and if they can't have Fox, they send us emails. They go on cruises, and if they can't have Fox, they send us emails. This is a way for us to meet that demand."

The service is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2018, and the cost of the subscription has not yet been decided. Neither of Fox News' main cable rivals, CNN and MSNBC, have a comparable streaming product (CNN has CNNgo, but it requires a cable subscription).

So yes: Soon President Trump will be able to consume Fox News content anytime, anywhere.
