The mystery behind Richard Sherman’s football prowess has been revealed: he’s a wizard in a league full of Muggles.

The extroverted cornerback for the Seattle Seahawks addressed media Wednesday dressed as Harry Potter himself. He walked up to the podium donning full Gryffindor robes, while playing “Hedwig’s Theme.” “You got to bring your own music,” Sherman told reporters. “This is a serious occasion. It’s Halloween.”

Sherman revealed his 20-month-old son wanted him to dress up. “This is my first and second [choice],” he added. “When you’re a wizard, like we are out there, sometimes you have to show it to the Muggles out in the world. We got a lot of wizards. My son’s a wizard, Earl Thomas does some magical things … I just went to Harry Potter land; it felt like home.”

Sherman, one of the Seahawks’ biggest faces, says he will take his son trick-or-treating. He’s not afraid of being spotted and bothered while traversing neighborhoods. “Clark Kent did it: All you gotta do is put the glasses on,” he said. “Bam. No longer Richard Sherman.”
