Empire: Mariah Carey first look

She’s arrived, dahlings. Dame Mariah Carey is finally appearing on Empire after years of speculation, and EW has your first look at her in action in this exclusive new series teaser.

Carey plays a singer named Kitty who joins Jamal (Jussie Smollett) in the recording studio. Viewers get a brief glimpse at their duet and Kitty saying to Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), “You always got a trick up your sleeve!”

The teaser also lays out some of the season’s big plot points, including the return of Shine (Xzibit) and Lucious’ half-brother Tariq (Morocco Omari).
