A new, visually and musically dynamic trailer for Terrence Malick's Song to Song is here, and it turns up the charm at the start. "I didn't know why I was coming to this party and then I saw you and I thought, that's why," struggling songwriter BV (Ryan Gosling) says to fellow musician Faye (Rooney Mara).

But this doesn't look to be a picture-perfect romance. "We thought we could just roll and tumble, live from song to song, kiss to kiss," Faye narrates. Apparently they couldn't, as BV suspiciously says "He's after you." Tears, fights, and what looks like some serious contemplation from characters across the board follow. <iframe id="video-frame" height="340" scrolling="no" src="http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/embed/song-to-song/trailer/index.html" width="540" frameborder="0" class="" allowfullscreen="" resize="0" replace_attributes="1" name=""></iframe>

Written and directed by Malick (The Tree of Life), this "modern love story" is set in the Austin, Texas music scene and centers on Faye and BV and another couple they're intertwined with — music mogul Cook (Michael Fassbender) and a waitress (Natalie Portman) — as they "chase success through a rock ‘n' roll landscape of seduction and betrayal," according to a press release.
