Nick Jonas leads EW's Summer Must Issue

Just in time for the start of the season, EW’s Ultimate Summer Preview Issue lays out all the essential TV shows, movies, music, books and more that you need to keep on your radar between now and Labor Day. And this time, we’re laying out 99 ways for you to spend the next three months.

On the top of the list: Double threat Nick Jonas, who covers this year’s Summer Must Issue. The former Jonas Brother has graduated to major stardom – both as an actor (his acclaimed DirecTV show Kingdom returns June 1) and a pop-chart titan (his confessional new album, Last Year Was Complicated, is due June 10.)

In a revealing interview with EW, the Disney-kid-turned-solo-star opens up about everything from his early days as a child actor on Broadway to his evolution onstage and onscreen, plus the current status of friendships old (Demi and Miley and Selena, oh my!) and new (some guy named Jay Z).

He also breaks down the breakup that led to some of his new album’s most intimate tracks, explores his love for both sides of the business, and reveals the crisis of faith he had just a couple years back (“To be 21 and think, ‘Alright, is my career over? Have I blown it, or do people just not care? There were a lot of questions and self doubt.'”)

For more on Jonas’ wet, wild – and yes, complicated – year, pick up Entertainment Weekly’s new Ultimate Summer Preview Issue, on newsstands Friday, or buy it here now – and subscribe for more exclusive interviews and photos, only in EW.
