What's one of the first rules of being a private detective? "No private detective looks like a private detective," says the titular investigator in the new trailer for Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. In this case, that seems to be the only rule.

The sneak peek at the upcoming BBC America series debuted during the Comic-Con festivities in San Diego and showcases Elijah Wood as Todd, a hotel bellboy who reluctantly joins forces with a peculiar detective. "I am not your Watson, a–hole," he shouts to Dirk, played by Samuel Barnett.

The series follows this new dynamic duo as they investigate cases involving the supernatural. Series creator and screenwriter Max Landis told EW during an interview that "this show is about someone who doesn't really know what he's doing." Showrunner Robert Cooper added, "It's a combination of Supernatural, Sherlock, and Doctor Who. We're like, Super-Sher-Who."

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency will premiere on BBC America Oct. 22. Watch the trailer above, and see our Comic-Con interview with the cast below.
