Poldark season 2 trailer: Aidan Turner turns up the heat

When 18th century-set British drama Poldark returns for its second season, expect the sexy scenes, passion, and tension to be turned up – way up.

As seen in the EW exclusive first look at a new trailer for American audiences above, the 10-episode drama will serve up a hefty helping of rugged hero Ross Poldark’s (The Hobbit‘s Aidan Turner) misadventures in love and life as a Revolutionary War soldier turned farmer who struggles to balance his heart’s desires with his hot-headed tendencies.

For starters, it looks like Poldark’s affection for former flame Elizabeth (Heida Reed) hasn’t been entirely relegated to the backburner, while his wife – young maid Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) – has her own trials as she aims for success both as lady of the house and object of Poldark’s passion.

That said, if the mere promise of steamy screen time isn’t enough for you, check out the much racier British trailer below – hello, sensual scenes lit by candlelight, potential threesomes, serious sexual tension and yup, lots more suggestive footage featuring Turner sans shirt. Who needs the “costume” in costume drama, anyway?
