(Except without controversy?). The inspirational film follows the transformation from shy piano prodigy Reginald Dwight into international music superstar Elton John in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The movie directed by Dexter Fletcher also stars Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) as Elton’s first manager, and Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World) as Elton’s mother. Rocketman blasts off in theaters May 31.
