Each week, we break down the biggest moments from Supergirl, The Flash, and Arrow — both here on EW.com and on SiriusXM’s EW Live every Friday during Superhero Insider.

There was a lot going on in the penultimate episode of Supergirl‘s third season; however, the story that stood out the most was J’onn (David Harewood) preparing to say goodbye to his father M’rynn (Carl Lumbly). The two Martians spent the bulk of the episode in a room together performing Martian memory transfer ceremony, which provided the show with the emotional weight that it’s been missing in these past few episodes (especially in the Argo City storyline). Watching father and son connect one last time before M’rynn passes away was truly moving because it was something M’rynn probably never thought he’d be able to experience since he was held captive for many, many years. I’ve loved Carl Lumbly’s presence on the show this season, and I’ll be sad to see him go in the season finale.
