Taylor Swift announces new album, Reputation

The first single drops this week

This is not a drill: Taylor Swift is releasing new music.

Reputation, Swift’s follow-up to 2014’s massively successful 1989, drops Nov. 10. The first single comes out Friday.

The singer announced the news in three images on social media Wednesday. Swift’s first black-and-white post says “first single out tomorrow night.”

The second image resembles an album cover and features the pop star staring directly at the camera. The title appears on the left, while newspaper print of her name in a gothic font covers the right side of her face.

Finally, the third image makes it clear that Reputation is the “new album from Taylor Swift” and includes the release date.

After months of staying under the radar — remember all that hoopla about her hiding in a suitcase? — Swift slowly began dropping clues about her imminent return last week. The “Shake It Off” singer wiped her social accounts clean Friday, only to return Monday with a cryptic social video of what appeared to be a reptile. On Wednesday, her third clip in the series revealed the creature is a venomous snake, possibly in reference to her Kanye West-Kim Kardashian feud.

Swift’s announcement comes less than two weeks after her victorious groping trial and days before the MTV Video Music Awards, one of the biggest nights in music, goes down Sunday in Los Angeles. Her former friend Katy Perry is set to host.
