Donald Trump may have won the presidential election, but not because of the state of California (which he lost) — and specifically Hollywood. High-profile actors from Robert De Niro to Julia Louis-Dreyfus spoke out against the president-elect leading up to the election. Now, a few weeks after Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton, Seth MacFarlane is sharing his opinion on why so many people in show business were railing against the businessman turned politician.

“Wanna know why Hollywood folks hate Trump? We live and work amongst his kind every day out here,” the Family Guy creator wrote on Friday. “His tactics are those employed by the shiftiest of agents, lawyers, and publicists. We’ve learned to recognize the blustery showmanship of a lying con man because we encounter it every day in our business. We’ve learned to smell it, because it’s bitten so many of us in the ass. Most of us love America a hell of a lot, and we don’t America to be conned the way many of us have ourselves. Trump is of Hollywood. And that’s the problem.”

Throughout his campaign, Trump had a contemptuous relationship with Hollywood, save for support from celebrities such as Antonio Sabato Jr. and Stephen Baldwin. Further, the president-elect hasn’t been shy about sharing his feelings about a variety of people in show business, with Samuel L. Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, and Alec Baldwin being just a few of the names that he has insulted on Twitter since launching his presidential campaign.

Ironically, Trump has had more experience in Hollywood than politics over his career. Not only was he the longtime host of NBC’s The Apprentice/Celebrity Apprentice, but he also made appearances in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Sex and the City, and The Little Rascals.
