EW's editorial guidelines Published on June 10, 2017 11:26AM EDT This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman already spilled the beans on a major puzzle piece coming in the season 2 premiere, so star Mandy Moore was able to offer another big tease to Jimmy Kimmel on Friday night. “The very first episode will offer a huge piece of the puzzle as to the big question that most people want to know, which is how Milo Ventimiglia’s character, Jack, the sort of patriarch of the family, passes away,” Moore dished. “So you will know how a big piece of the puzzle is solved after the first episode.” Earlier this week, Fogelman teased out This Is Us season 2 during a pre-Emmys For Your Consideration panel with PEOPLE and EW editorial director Jess Cagle. He said the question about how Jack passed away will be strung out “over the course of the season.” While Fogelman hasn’t read many of the theories online, his writers have and he says he has “not quite seen anybody in the vicinity of being right.” This Is Us season 2 doesn’t premiere until the fall, but at least we have something to watch as the cast members surprise fans, pal around with Billy Eichner, and hit up Hollywood Game Night.
