Donald Trump was slammed Saturday for a tweet he posted about the death of Nykea Aldridge, a 32-year-old Chicago resident and cousin of NBA superstar Dwyane Wade, who was shot and killed on Friday.

“Dwayne [sic] Wade’s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago,” Trump wrote, spelling Wade’s first name wrong. “Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!” He later deleted the initial tweet and reposted it with Wade’s name spelled correctly.

Trump was attacked for the remarks on social media, including by actor Don Cheadle and former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams.

“You are truly a POS,” Cheadle wrote on Twitter, adding in a subsequent tweet, “Sorry. I misspelled ‘die in a grease fire.'”

In response to Trump’s tweet, Williams wrote, “An absolute disgrace.”

Aldridge was killed on Friday while pushing a baby stroller down the street. “My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence. 4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal,” Wade wrote on Twitter after her death.

Trump’s tweet came after candidate’s attempts in the last two weeks to court black voters. “Tonight, I’m asking for the vote of every single African-American citizen in this country who wants to see a better future,” Trump said during a campaign stop in Michigan on Aug. 19. “Look how much African-American communities have suffered under Democratic control. To those I say the following: What do you have to lose by trying something new like Trump?” He later added, “You’re living in poverty. Your schools are no good. You have no jobs. 58 percent of your youth is unemployed. What the hell do you have to lose?”

In addition to asking what black voters “have to lose” by voting for Trump, the GOP nominee has also called his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton a “bigot.”

“She is a bigot,” he said to CNN when asked to explain the comments. “She is selling them down the tubes because she’s not doing anything for those communities. She talks a good game. But she doesn’t do anything. … I think she’s been extremely bad for African-Americans, I think she’s been really bad for Hispanics. You look at what happened with her policies and the polices of President Obama and others. Look at the poverty. Look at the rise in poverty. Look at the rise the violence.”

Asked by CNN host Anderson Cooper if “hatred was at the core” of those policies, or a “dislike of African-Americans,” Trump replied, “Or maybe she’s lazy.”
