Along with moving to a new network, Supergirl is introducing a host of characters this fall. Below, we’ve got the scoop on the new faces coming to National City from executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. As Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) would say, they look like “the attractive, yet nonthreatening, racially diverse cast of a CW show.”

Superman (Tyler Hoechlin)

After both Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Clark show up to the same crisis, the duo finally spend some quality time together. “Both of them have a bit of sadness about them, they both have that sense of feeling alone, they both have that sense of feeling different, and both of them remark that that loneliness, that alienation, that isolation goes away when they are together,” Kreisberg says, noting that Alex (Chyler Leigh) will struggle over the duo bonding. More on Superman here, here and here.

President Olivia Marsdin (Lynda Carter)

The former Wonder Woman will help the show tackle immigration issues, as POTUS signs an alien amnesty act. “She very much believes in this cause, which is going to put her in danger, which is going to necessitate Supergirl protecting her,” teases Kreisberg, who’s excited to have Carter on the series. “We can’t believe she said yes.”

Mon-El (Chris Wood)

Miss Martian (Sharon Leal)

The red planet native helps J’onn J’onzz (David Harewood) embrace being the Martian Manhunter. “J’onn is suddenly going to have this connection to Mars that he’s been lacking for the last 300 years,” Kreisberg says. “He’s dealing with survivor’s guilt, and he’s spent the last few hundred years burying that. It’s only because of his interactions with Kara and his deepening relationship with Alex that he gets to start to tap back into that. The arrival of Miss Martian is really going to open the flood gates.”

Snapper Carr (Ian Gomez)

Many at CatCo magazine are vying to fill the power vacuum surrounding the departure of Cat Grant — Flockhart is now a recurring guest star — including Snapper Carr, whose no-holds barred approach pushes Kara in unexpected ways.

Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath)

With brother Lex Luthor in jail, Lena is poised to take over the family business — and she apparently wants to use the company for good. Riiiiight.

Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima)

The influx of aliens facilitates the introduction of DC Comics detective Maggie Sawyer, who works for the Science Police. “Maggie is a strident advocate for alien rights,” Kreisberg says. “She says in her introductory episode that growing up gay and Latina in Nebraska made her ideally sympathetic to people who are different and people who don’t quite fit in.'”
