Discovery Communications announced Wednesday that they have entered into a development and production agreement with Terri, Bindi, and Robert Irwin. The family will work on projects to air across platforms for Animal Planet — the network where the late patriarch Steve Irwin’s Crocodile Hunter aired for more than a decade — while also serving as “global ambassadors” for Discovery Communications. “Steve Irwin was a champion for all wildlife and he and Terri’s excitement and enthusiasm brought viewers from around the world in touch with nature,” Patrice Andrews, general manager of Animal Planet, said in a statement. “Their passion for animals, love for their family, and leadership in conservation awareness left a strong legacy that continues today. We are thrilled to have Terri, Bindi, and Robert back in the Animal Planet family.” Added Terri, “We’re excited to be returning home to Animal Planet and our Discovery Communications family. We look forward to the year ahead as we embark on new projects and adventures with Animal Planet.” Terri, the widow of Steve Irwin, is a wildlife spokesperson and prominent conservation advocate. Her daughter, Bindi, notably won Dancing with the Stars back in 2015, while son Robert has made multiple appearances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Steve’s groundbreaking Crocodile Hunter introduced a new form of wildlife documentary and gained popularity around the world. He was killed by a stingray’s barb, which pierced his heart, in 2006.
