Score delves into iconic Hollywood music — watch the trailer

The film features Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Danny Elfman, and more

It’s hard to imagine a James Bond movie without 007’s iconic theme song, Star Wars without its rousing fanfare, or Psycho without its suspense-inducing strings. But for all the beloved music in the Hollywood canon, the art and craft of film composing often get short shrift.

The upcoming documentary Score aims to change all that, and EW has an exclusive look at the film’s trailer and poster.

Directed by Matt Schrader, Score delves into the creative processes of such acclaimed composers as Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, John Williams, Quincy Jones, Trent Reznor, and Rachel Portman. Through interviews and archival material, the documentary illuminates their goals and challenges, and the alchemy inherent in creating a truly memorable score.
