Captain Phasma is breaking out.

By now, we know that Gwendoline Christie’s chrome-plated Stormtrooper survived the destruction of Starkiller Base in The Force Awakens, despite being cast down into the trash compactor by Finn, Chewie, and Han Solo.

A new Marvel comic coming out in September will reveal just how she made her getaway, and now we have the first panel reveals from the story.

The four-part miniseries is part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi storyline, which connects J.J. Abrams’ film with writer-director Rian Johnson’s sequel this December. It will be written by Kelly Thompson (Hawkeye, Star Wars Annual) and illustrated by Marco Checchetto (known for the Star Wars series Shattered Empire and Screaming Citadel).

“The Star Wars films, with so many fantastic characters, obviously can’t be a ‘Phasma story,’ and it’s especially cool that Phasma is getting explored in-depth in both her forthcoming novel and comic book,” said Thompson. The novel, Phasma, written by Delilah S. Dawson, also debuts in September and will explore her backstory.

“The most exciting thing to me about our mini-series is that we were given the awesome responsibility of bridging a gap between Force Awakens and Last Jedi — of answering the question of what happened to Phasma after she went into that trash chute,” Thompson says.

Submitted for inspection: Here’s a look at Phasma as she emerges from the rubble. There are no words, and it’s not clear where these images are set in the sequence of the story, so you’ll have to imagine exactly what’s going on for now…
