EW's editorial guidelines Published on January 24, 2019 10:00AM EST Fifty Shades fans, let your inner goddess sway in a gentle victorious samba because E. L. James has a new book coming your way. Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images The author of the raunchy franchise announced exclusively on the Today Show Thursday that her new book The Mister is coming to shelves near you soon. Vintage The new tale comes nearly eight years after the first book in her erotic romance trilogy made her a household name. Although the upcoming novel doesn’t follow the exploits of the beloved Christian Grey and his insufferable target guileless love interest Anastasia Steele (portrayed by Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, respectively, in the movie), fans of James should find plenty to, ahem, satisfy them in the new book. Just check out this description of the male lead, named Maxim Trevelyan: “He’s stretched across the length of the bed, tangled in his duvet but naked . . . very naked. His face is turned toward her but covered by unkempt brown hair.” The “her” in the quote is the exotically named Alessia Demachi, an enigmatic woman who the handsome, rich (of course!) and British Maxim falls for. “It’s a 21st century Cinderella,” James said on the Today Show, while the book’s press release describes the story as “a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.” If this news doesn’t have your inner goddess doing cartwheels, nothing will!
