xXx: Return of Xander Cage trailer sets views record for Paramount

People seem pretty amped for the Return of Xander Cage. The first trailer for the next xXx movie, starring Vin Diesel, shot past the 100 million mark in online views within the first week on YouTube and Facebook.

According to Paramount, the trailer is the fastest to reach that number for the studio. The record is nowhere near the level of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the trailer for which hit 128 million online views in its first 24 hours, but it bodes well for the franchise’s next installment.

Diesel returns as Xander Cage after appearing in 2002’s xXx. The extreme athlete and government operative emerges from self-imposed exile to acquire a diabolical weapon called Pandora’s Box. Samuel L. Jackson, Nina Dobrev, Ruby Rose, and Donnie Yen also star in the film directed by D.J. Caruso.

xXx: Return of Xander Cage is scheduled for theaters on Jan. 20, 2017. Watch the trailer again in the player above.
