Archie Panjabi has been tapped for a major recurring role on Blindspot in season 2, EW has learned.

The Good Wife star will portray the head of a secret division of the NSA that has been tracking the Jane Doe case from afar. In the wake of Jane (Jaimie Alexander) being arrested in the finale, Panjabi’s new character could facilitate how the Jane Doe mission continues in season 2.

“We’ve come up with a really good and organic way that the show can operate in a similar fashion to how it did in the first season, but with a lot more stakes and being a lot more complicated,” executive producer Martin Gero recently teased. “We get back into the Jane Doe business in a really interesting way in the beginning of season 2.” More on that here.

The casting marks Panjabi’s first major recurring role on broadcast TV since her Good Wife character, Kalinda, was written off the series at the end of its sixth season. She was cast this year in ABC’s drama anthology pilot The Jury, but it wasn’t picked up for the fall 2016 season. The actress also guest-starred on Fox’s comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine last fall.

Blindspot returns Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
