Pink and Kelly Clarkson perform R.E.M.'s 'Everybody Hurts' at AMAs

Bow down

Call it manifest destiny.

Barely two weeks after Kelly Clarkson put her wish for a collaboration with Pink out into the universe, the two stars have just wrapped their first performance together at the American Music Awards on Sunday.

Following a heartfelt introduction from Jamie Foxx, where the Oscar-winner honored all the first responders that have been forced to deal with numerous tragedies and natural disasters in 2017, they helmed the stage at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with an updated take on R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts.” (Each will also tackle solo numbers later in the evening.)

In the days leading up to the event, both Clarkson and Pink shared their excitement about the mini-set. On her end, Clarkson threatened to frame a picture from their rehearsals.

Pink, charmingly, retaliated: “This woman has a direct line to outer space with that voice,” she tweeted, posting the same picture. “I feel lucky to stand next to her when she sings.”

Clarkson and Pink are both enjoying banner career years. The Beautiful Trauma singer debuted with staggering first week sales, bowing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums charts. And the former American Idol champ entered her new recording contract by diving into the soul sounds she’s long longed to cut.
