Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt serve '60s fashion in first look at Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt are ready for their close-up in the first official image from Quentin Tarantino’s entertainment industry tale Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The Oscar-winning Titanic star debuted the photo Wednesday on Instagram, teasing the film’s period aesthetic as he and Pitt lean against a row of columns in colorful, 1960s-inspired garb.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood takes place in southern California throughout the latter portion of the decade, as a fading TV actor named Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt) attempt to rise through the ranks of Tinsel Town against the backdrop of the Charles Manson murders—which hit close to home for Dalton, as he lives next door to ill-fated Manson victim Sharon Tate.

Joining Pitt and DiCaprio among the film’s robust cast are Margot Robbie as Tate, Burt Reynolds, Dakota Fanning as Manson family associate Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, Al Pacino, Damian Lewis as iconic actor Steve McQueen, Emile Hirsch, Timothy Olyphant, James Marsden, and frequent Tarantino collaborator Tim Roth.

Set for release on Aug. 9, 2019—the 50th anniversary of the Manson family crimes—the film marks Tarantino’s first feature (and ninth overall) as director since releasing The Hateful Eight in 2015. The film is widely expected to be one of Tarantino’s last, as the filmmaker has long asserted his intent to retire after producing 10 features, meaning the Pitt/DiCaprio collaboration could be his penultimate project.
