Watch the trailer for NBC's Midnight, Texas

Everything is stranger in Texas

Midnight, Texas looks like one freaky town.

A trailer for the new NBC show, Midnight, Texas was released on Monday, and it seems the town’s inhabitants are quite the colorful bunch. The upcoming series is based on the New York Times best-selling book series by Charlaine Harris (author of the novels behind HBO’s True Blood) and follows a psychic named Manfred (François Arnaud) as he moves to a new Texan town that boasts a more vast array of creatures than Bon Temps.

In the trailer, Manfred arrives in Midnight, and the passenger in his car tells him,“You’ll be safe in Midnight” — a statement we’re less than inclined to believe after it is revealed the speaker is a zombie-type woman. Turns out Midnight is a haven for outsiders of the supernatural variety, and Manfred quickly discovers he isn’t the only “freak in the room.” Indeed, there’s Joe (Jason Lewis), who watches over everyone and also has huge angel wings. There’s the Rev (Yul Vazquez), whom no one has quite figured out yet (perhaps he’s a fan of the full moon?). There’s Fiji (Parisa Fitz-Henley), who is more than just a cat lady (she appears to have some magical control over the elements), and then there’s Olivia (Arielle Kebbel), who has more secrets than everyone — and plenty of firepower. There’s also Lemuel (Peter Mensah), a savvy-seeming vampire.

Midnight, Texas premieres on July 25, 2017 on NBC.
