Charlotte Church has suffered a miscarriage, it was announced Monday on the singer’s official Twitter account. Church was expecting her third child, her first baby with boyfriend Jonathan Powell.

“Charlotte and Jonny are very sad to announce that they lost their baby,” reads the first of two tweets from her official handle. “Now is a time for grieving and being together as a family.”

“We kindly ask everyone to respect that peace,” reads the second tweet.

The classical musician revealed she was pregnant with her third child during a performance at a Gay Pride event in Birmingham, England, in May. In an interview with The Guardian later that month, Church said she felt “brilliant” about expanding her family, adding that it’s “great” and “lovely” being pregnant at 31 as opposed to 21, when she first gave birth. “It feels very different this time around,” she said.

The Voice of an Angel singer has two children — daughter Ruby, 9, and son Dexter, 8 — from a previous relationship with rugby player Gavin Henson.
