Last week, Syfy announced that Franka Potente (Run Lola Run, The Bourne Identity) will guest-star on season 2 of Dark Matter as Commander Shaddick, Chief Inspector of the Galactic Authority Serious Crimes Division, whom the network describes as “cool, calculated, and determined to prove the crew of the Raza were involved in the destruction of Iriden 3.”

EW has your first look at Potente above, as well as at Melanie Liburd (Game of Thrones) and Shaun Sipos (Melrose Place) below, both of whom are joining the show as season 2 series regulars. Liburd will play Nyx, who has “killer instincts [and] is the physical equal to the formidable crew mates,” Syfy explained. “Having spent recent years in and out of prison, she’s cautiously optimistic about finding a place to call home onboard the Raza.” Sipos, meanwhile, assumes the role of Devon, a former world-class surgeon who is “haunted by a dark past that may pose a danger to himself and his fellow crew members.”

EW can also reveal Mike Dopud (X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Ellen Wong (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) have been cast. Dopud will play Arax, “the powerful head of a prison gang” whose “extensive connections and pull with criminal outfits throughout colonized space would be Arax’s biggest asset should the crew ever decide to trust him,” Syfy said. Wong will portray Misaki, described as a “close childhood friend of Four” who is the “deadly new Commander of the Ishida Royal Guard. Skilled in combat and diplomacy, nothing will stop Misaki from performing her duty to Zairon.”

Created by the Stargate TV franchise’s Joe Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, and based on their graphic novel of the same name, Dark Matter centers on six people aboard a derelict spaceship who don’t know who they are or how they got there. It stars Marc Bendavid, Melissa O’Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr., Jodelle Ferland, Roger Cross, and Zoie Palmer, and will return to Syfy on July 1 at 10 p.m. ET.

This post has been updated with descriptions of Nyx (Liburd) and Devon (Sipos).
