Dylan O'Brien runs out the clock in first Maze Runner: The Death Cure trailer

Run, Thomas! Run!

With Dylan O'Brien back in his element after a severe on-set injury, Gladers suffering the long wait for the first Maze Runner: The Death Cure trailer can now rest easy. The footage debuted during Sunday's series finale of Teen Wolf, which closed out another chapter of O'Brien's career with the MTV series.

After suffering a blow from the confrontation with WCKD in The Scorch Trials, Thomas (O'Brien) is ready to lead the Gladers in a final assault on the legendary Last City, a labyrinth controlled by their enemies that could be the group's most dangerous trials yet. They need to save their friends and find the cure for the disease known as "The Flare," but those that live to the end will also finally get the answers they've been searching for since their arrival in the maze.

The Death Cure was originally planned for release on Feb. 17 of this year, but O'Brien's injury during production halted development and pushed the release to next year. It will now open Jan. 26, 2018.

"I really was in a dark place there for a while and it wasn't an easy journey back," O'Brien said of the accident. "There was a time there where I didn't know if I would ever do it again… and that thought scared me, too." He added, "In a lot of ways, those six months went by like that. And then, in a lot of ways, I can still remember that six months as if it was five years of my life."

Wes Ball returned to direct The Death Cure, which stars Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Katherine McNamara, Nathalie Emmanuel, Rosa Salazar, Patricia Clarkson, Barry Pepper, Giancarlo Esposito, and Walton Goggins.
