The first time Greg Rikaart began work on The Young and the Restless in 2003, he was only slated to appear in a few episodes but ended up staying for 14 years.

Is history about to repeat itself?

EW has learned exclusively that Rikaart, who left the CBS sudser in the spring after the producers declined to renew his contract, will return to Genoa City for a two-week gig starting Sept. 20. He’s only supposed to appear for a few episodes but… who knows what the tide will bring?

Rikaart plays Kevin Fisher, last seen in July episodes of the soap. Kevin worked for the Genoa City Police Department and had a daughter with his on-and-off again wife Chloe. When it was revealed earlier this year that Rikaart was bidding farewell, he released a statement that said, “at the moment it is unclear what lies ahead for Kevin and I, as we will be saying goodbye to Genoa City for a while. I am sad to leave a place I hold so dear but also really excited about what the future holds.”

Rikaart won a Daytime Emmy in 2005 for playing Kevin Fisher.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
