Billy Eichner talks Mike Pence's anti-LGBT views

Comedian Billy Eichner — “a pop-culture guy,” as Stephen Colbert put it — is intensely following Donald Trump’s campaign, since “Trump is show business.” And Eichner, for one, isn’t looking forward to further mixing politics and entertainment.

“It’s not only just the policies — it’s also the other things they have to do now,” Eichner told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show Thursday night. “There is no way I will survive Mike Pence doing Carpool Karaoke. What song’s he gonna sing? ‘I Deported Your Grandmother’?”

Although Eichner and Colbert were talking right after Trump’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, it was his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, who earned most of Eichner’s ire. For one thing, the politician has advocated for conversion therapy, which is based on the belief that gay people like Eichner can somehow be “cured” of their sexuality and made heterosexual, usually through techniques that can resemble torture.

“So here’s my idea,” Eichner said. “I have asked on my show, who’s hotter: Barack Obama or Abraham Lincoln? I usually say Barack Obama, but I now actually want a three-way with Mike and Karen Pence. Because if you think you can convert me, I want to see you try. Bring it on, Karen Pence!”
