Let's Make a Deal: Wayne Brady channels Hamilton for Mayflower rap

Some elaborate costumes made their way through the Let’s Make a Deal stage, but host Wayne Brady was so inspired by one guest’s pilgrim getup that he decided to rewrite history. In EW’s exclusive clip from the show’s Thanksgiving episode, Brady and his guest took a note from the Hamilton playbook and performed an improvised Mayflower rap.

Brady addressed the Broadway show’s creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, asking, “Are you watching this?” after rapping about pilgrims “running from religious persecution. British folks back there, the Redcoats are shootin’.”

In addition to hosting Let’s Make a Deal, Brady is the go-to music man on Who’s Line Is It Anyway?. He also earned the game show a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Original Song for “30,000 Reasons to Love Me,” another of his improvised masterpieces.

“This isn’t an ordinary game show,” he told EW at the time. “I don’t feel the game show grind. I’m not just a guy with a microphone saying ‘Jay, tell them what they won!’ cause that would be a waste of what I do.”
