The Incredibles 2 teaser trailer debuts first footage of Pixar sequel

It's a Jack-Jack attack!

To say Pixar fans have been patiently waiting for the Incredibles 2 trailer is an understatement.

It's been 13 years since the Parr family fought off Syndrome and his robots to save the city of Metroville in the animated hit from director Brad Bird, and it wasn't always certain if a sequel would get the official green light. The reality set in when D23 ticket holders saw footage of Jack-Jack terrorizing a raccoon in the upcoming sequel. Now the first footage of The Incredibles 2 is ready for mass consumption.

It's actually happening for us!

In the first teaser trailer, which dropped on Saturday, Jack-Jack is testing out some of his newfound abilities — the same ones he tormented his babysitter, Kari, with in the first film. Among an arsenal of superpowers, he can phase through walls, turn himself into a living flame, and hulk out in his own way. Most importantly, he can shoot laser beams from his eyes, which he uses to give the film's logo an update for the sequel.

Bob is one proud papa. "You have powers!" he exclaims in the footage before a chunk of his hair is singed off.

The Incredibles 2 will pick up right where we left off in The Incredibles with Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson), Elastigirl (Holly Hunter), Violet (Sarah Vowell), and Dash (Huck Milner, replacing original voice actor Spencer Fox) facing off against The Underminer. "You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up and you see the family dressed as superheroes, well that's where [we] start this movie," Pixar head John Lasseter had said.

Beyond that, Elastigirl will find herself at "the forefront of the action, while Bob has to stay home facing his biggest challenge yet," Bird teased at the D23 Expo earlier this year.

That challenge would be "normal life." According to the film's official plot synopsis, "It's a tough transistion for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack's emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they're all Incredible."
