Better Call Saul renewed for season 4

AMC will keep on calling Saul.

The network announced on Tuesday that it has renewed Better Call Saul for a fourth season.

The Breaking Bad prequel that focuses on the transformation of go-getter attorney Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) into the slimy consigliere Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad will return in 2018 with 10 more episodes. The renewal news was expected, but AMC kept fans waiting a little longer than expected, as the season 3 renewal announcement arrived while season 2 was still airing. Better Call Saul‘s season 3 finale aired on June 19.

In season 3, the show started to inch closer toward the Breaking Bad timeline, reintroducing several characters from that universe, including the full-time addition of Giancarlo Esposito, who played Bad‘s most storied villain, Gustavo Fring. The end of season 3 finale packed a shock as Jimmy’s brother, Chuck (Michael McKean), who was struggling with mental illness, took his own life by setting the room on fire. The finale drew 3.7 million viewers in Live+3, which was down from the 4.4 million viewers for season 2’s ender.

The series, which averaged 3.6 million viewers per episode in season 3, was nominated for an Outstanding Drama Series Emmy in seasons 1 and 2, with Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks earning nods in both seasons as well.

Better Call Saul — which was created by Bad overlord Vince Gilligan and executive producer Peter Gould — also stars Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, and Michael Mando.
